I try not to get into food ruts, but lately I find myself ordering just about every patty melt I find. It really is a great, simple sandwich: hamburger, onions, cheese, seasoning, bread. Rye is preferred, but sourdough is also good.
I’ve always liked the sandwich at Little Coalinga, and I recently raved about the Patty Melt at Randle’s Kitchen. This week, I tried one at Gateway Lounge that was okay, and Wednesday night at Bogey’s Bar, Grill and Casino.
The Bogey’s sandwich was terrific. Great marble rye bread, toasted and buttered, with a juicy, seasoned burger, and some darn good onions. I loved it. I’d definitely recommend.
Plus, they had this chicken chislic (Chik-lic?) that was really tasty. I know it’s not really a thing, chicken chislic, but it was good nonetheless. We grabbed ours with a bourbon sauce and a spicy garlic to dip in to.
Have you been to Bogey’s? This was only my second time, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. And no heartburn this time! ;)
