If you’re someone, like me, who considers new restaurants, bars and eateries opening up to be good news, this post is for you.
First, CH Patisserie is opening Friday at 5 p.m. The shop, owned and operated by Chris Hamner, a former winner of the Top Chef - Just Desserts competition, will sell European-inspired pastries including macaroons, tarts and brioche and luxury candies.
I got a sneak peek of the finished space today, and it’s drastically different than the previous New York Express Pizza. In a good way. I also got to try a Vanilla Bean Soft Caramel (above), and am immediately regretting my decision to share. Delicious.
CH Patisserie will be open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. to start, with this Friday and Saturday being a sort of “soft” launch (They’ve only just been able to get in and start using the kitchen), according to Hamner.
I’m definitely looking forward to this addition to downtown.
Second, and this is a bit of a tease, but today on the 100 Eyes talk show with Managing Editor Patrick Lalley, Sioux Falls Business Journal Editor Jodi Schwan will be breaking the news of some new national chain coming to Sioux Falls.
Update: It’s Zoup.
I tried to get it out of her, but Jodi keeps these things close to the vest and wouldn’t tell me. Again, I know this is a plug/tease/promotion for our daily, interactive talk show at 3 p.m. on argusleader.com, but she will be telling us then. And if you can’t watch, I’ll be talking about it afterward I’m sure.
See?! Not one, but TWO pieces of good, food-related news for a dreary Wednesday afternoon. And with all this bunk weather, I think we deserved it, right?
