Old Dutch Inn for steak and tots hits the spot. Where next?

Two readers suggested the Old Dutch Inn when I asked where to eat in Dell Rapids. I was rushed, and went with one of the specials, a 6 oz. sirloin, medium rare. I had my choice of potato, but there never really is another choice when tater tots are an option. Oh, and some thick-cut toast.

The steak was cooked nicely, and had a good sear on it. I’m always let down by sirloin though. I think it’s too lean, and gets a bit dry. I’m more of a rib eye guy. But the steak was good enough, and it was the second of three steaks I’ll be detailing this week on the blog.

Upcoming: A New York Strip with Stilton and a peach/jalapeno glaze from Parker’s Bistro, my go-to “nice” restaurant in town to take visitors, and a rib eye from Archie’s Waeside in Le Mars, Iowa, one of the best steakhouses in the entire country. Fair warning, that post will be filled with well-deserved hyperbole.

But now I’m in need of suggestions: Where else to drive to for a good meal? Steak, pizza, sandwiches, pasta, ice cream, whatever. I’m looking to get outside Sioux Falls this month, and need some direction.

Thanks in advance!
